Not sure if these are bugs or something wrong with my watch. I’ve noticed some inconsistent changes in the brightness when tapping the brightness buttons. The two most notable is when I’m in a dim to dark room and I tap to lower the brightness, going from high to medium there is a noticeable change in brightness but from medium to low no change at all. Again, when I go from low to medium nothing changes, but then the brightness noticeably goes up when going from medium to high.

When I am in a bright room there is noticeable changes in brightness throughout all 3 settings as you would expect, but if you keep tapping the darken button even after you get to the low setting the screen will continue to get darker, almost to the point of being too dim to see if you tap long enough. When you stop tapping it will get brighter again, back to the brightness level of the low setting.

It seems this issue would have to be software based but could it be a problem with the hardware in my watch? I haven’t found any mention of this in my searches.

Can someone go into a dark room and tell me if their brightness changes when going from medium to low and low to medium, or if it only changes from medium to high?

I just tested it & I also can’t see any difference going from low to medium & vice Vera’s, while in a dark room, but I can when in a normally lit room. I wonder if it’s due to the watch reducing brightness when you’re in a dark room, so that the brightness ins’t too bright. It would make sense if they just moved everything down one notch, so that in a dark room bright was really medium, medium was low & low was also low

Thanks. Yeah I think it’s more or less what you say. The adjustability range is narrow in a dark room, allowing only range for 2 steps and not 3.

Made a visit to the Apple store and all the watches there actually displayed no change in brightness from low to high in that lighting environment.
