S6 Goes Berzerk During Workout

During my workout routine (outdoor walk) this morning, my S6 starting going Berzerk. Between the 3rd and 4th kilometers, my S6 started an audible string of “segment 1 mark, segment 2 mark, … segment 17 mark” over the span of a few mintes even though I had not touched my S6 since starting my workout. A few minutes later when I looked at my watch, it was in the middle of an ApplePay transaction, which I cancelled. A few minutes later when I looked at my watch again, it had somehow gotten into bluetooth settings, which I cancelled. Then at the 5.8K mark, my S6 ended my workout. A new workout was started for the final 0.26K of my 6K walk.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? My S6 is up to date software wise @v8.1.

Are you wearing long sleeves? I found some of my long sleeve shirts activate the touch screen, leading to unpredictable behavior. I now turn on water lock when I wear my watch with long sleeves.

This!
Sweat/dampness and long sleeves made my watch do the same. Now I activate water lock when running with long sleeves

Yes I was wearing long sleeves, plus the air was quite humid having just rained. That may have contributed also. Thanks for the tips.

Note to self: Need to research water lock.

Need to research water lock.

I've recently created a shortcut to start a workout and turn on water lock with one tap from my phone. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a shortcut function to end a workout. :(

You will need to go old school and turn off the workout manually. :p

Thanks, I just finished reviewing this. Also thanks to @Apple_Robert.

It just seems odd that there is a start workout shortcut but no end workout shortcut. As I said, I made a shortcut to start a workout and turn on water lock, which I can now do with one tap. Then, when I want to end my workout, I have to dig my watch out from under my sleeves -- now that it's cold enough to wear layers, that can take a while. Then I have to roll the crown to turn off water lock, and finally swipe sideways to get to the end workout button. All this could theoretically be reduced to a single tap if only there was an end workout function in shortcut!

If you use the Apple Workout app, just say, Hey Siri, end workout. That will work.
