S7 - weird behaviour

So I’m on the latest watchOS. I’m not sure if this is normal since I just got the watch but when I turn my wrist to wake up the watch or tap it, the screen lights up at a low brightness then changes to a brighter display.

Is this normal?

It’s apparent on the California face with a white colour but if I pick a dark colour - it doesn’t seem to do that 90% of the time.

My Series 7 doesn’t do that. But it looks like your display is switched to not always on. That may have something to do with it.

Mine does the same thing. I kind of forgot about it until I saw this post. I guess I’ve gotten used to it. I do not have the always on display on. You may be on to something with the faces. Mine seems to only do it on certain faces.
