S8 blinks/flicker when going from AOD to sleep mode

Hi,

Just noticed that sometimes my new S8 is doing a quick flash when sleep mode is activated from my phone and turns off the screen.
Kinda like an old tv turning off. Got the same situation when i take off the watch from my wrist. It s not 100% of the time and more noticeable in darkness. I didn’t test all watch faces.

- did a restart and reset, still present
- it happens 1 time on 10 i’d say
- It semms only hapening when sleep mode is activated from the phone not the watch itself
- It s more like a quick blink/ glitch when aod goes off
- Classic raise to wake dosen t reproduce the issue

Any similar experience ?

Just used my phone to set AOD on and off 10 times and didn’t notice that. I did notice that when AOD comes on it is brighter and then darkens to adjust to ambient light. But no flash or anything like that when turning off.

I was using a shortcut, not sleep mode.

What model do you own ? The only 2 scenarios when it can happen is when i toggle sleep mode from my phone or when i take off my watch.

Really looks like a software thing

Posted the issue on other discussion group. The more comon situation seems to be when the watch (S8 in my case) with AOD on is taken off from the wrist. I can see a quick full screen white flicker before turning it off.

It's hapning i'd say 15% of the time. I think thats a softawre issue but will be reassured that i don't have a problem with the watch as i am still in the 14 days.

Spoke to Apple support. They don’t have this case in their record.

I still think thats not enough to jump in the exchange process as it doesn’t bother the overall experience but i am a bit in doubt right now.

No one with an S8 that can relate ?

Late to the party here, but this happens to me on the S8 when rotating wrist, then quickly taking strap off, it will flash like orange for a frame then go to its normal display. I notice it when taking it off wrist to put onto the charger, seems to happen once the AOD is technically off, rotate wrist to come into view, it detects no wrist, so goes into another mode, at that point it will flash then go back to normal.

Sometimes it's a missed blank frame, like its been instantly turned off then on, sometimes its the orange colour.

Only seems to do it with the AOD activated, can't get it to do with without that being enabled. I have no concern, functions as normal apart from that, seems software related. I gave up caring about it a while back 😂.
