S8 Come out of the box with Green Snake

Just upgraded my wife's S4 to an S8. Came out of the box not turning on, which is odd. Ive never had an Apple device show up with no power.

Placed on the brand new charger with an Apple USB C brick and was greeted with Green Snake of Death. It's been an hour or so, nothing yet.

I realize it might charge but Im worried about overall battery health. Should I just take back to AT&T and swap?

Maybe not genuine charger as AW8 should have the usb c faster charger with it
