The iMac looks very elegant as if it is hanging in mid-air with the current stand but the height of the overall 27" iMac makes it a bit uncomfortable to use. In contrast, I have my MBA connected to a Dell U2412M and the viewing area is great when I adjust the height low.

Would you sacrifice the current elegant design if it meant that you can have a height adjustable iMac? I say sacrifice because there is no way you can have that elegant stand be height adjustable without changing the design.

Maybe, but it's not that big of an issue with me. It would be nice to have though. I don't see why the current design could be made with a stand that allows up/down, tilt, and swivel. It would have to be a heavy-duty stand that would increase the price and increase the footprint, however. I can understand why Apple would not want to have an adjustable stand - engineering, higher price of the parts, wear and tear (warranty claims), decreasing the sleekness of the design, etc.
