Safari 11.1 and “insecure connections"

I’ve encountered this problem twice now (usually on servers people have set up for themselves), where I get the following message:

Unfortunately all clicking “Show Details” does is move the whole thing down.

However I don’t have the option to add an exception, and I effectively can’t access the website.


Is there a way to either 1. disable this feature (google safe browsing is already disabled), or 2. make it so I can add a security exception?
