Safari 2.0 (Handling of PDF's)

My recent version of Safari now handles PDF's within the browser window instead of downloading and automatically opening in Preview. Initially I thought this was nice but it takes forever for it to print and does not handle this operation in the background causing me to wait until it is finished. It was much nicer when it did it in preview because it was in the background. Any suggestions on how I can either get safari to handle PDF's as before or handle the printing of PDF's in the background?
