I actually was curious about mac side since windows side safari 3.1.2 was out a while ago, and with some tweaks other than security fixes.

PS. I can see it in my update manager, 26MB...

I only had 10.5.4 available in SOFTWARE UPDATE and I just checked Safari and it says 3.1.2 so it must've somehow did it automatically? Is that possible?

How stable is Safari 4 ?

VERY. Where 3.1 would crash upwards of five times a day, Safari 4 refuses to crash. I mean outright refuses. It just gets slow and the Spinning Color Wheel of Death comes up for a while.

You can save things as Web Apps now. I didn't go looking for anything else new...

Go download it. The Developer Account required to get it is free.

I'm an Apple Developer but can't find it on the developer page. Can you send me the link? Thanks.

If I install Safari 4, does it get updated via "Software Update" ?

If I go for Safari 4, does it make a clean install or update Safari 3 and detect my history and favorites (bookmarks, etc...) ?

i dont know,

i would imagine so (history and bookmarks)

i think it will replace version 3

I don't know why you want to use it since safari 4 is a very early alpha test version, its not suitable for everybody for day-2-day use. I would recommend you to wait.

I was just wondering, because many people on the forum says so much good stuff about it. The final version still seems far away. My Safari 3 does the beach-ball often and eventually crashes.

I prefer waiting for the final version but I would love to hear more from others that are actually using it, Safari 4.

nope, all my bookmarks were in tact. However, for some websites my login information was saved while for some others it was not. Safari 4 is very stable and very fast.
