I don't remember if this happen with 4.0 but for example I'm on a web page and the page it's completely done loading next to the 3G I still get that round icon going on circles like if the page was loading but it's really not and the icon never goes away! Here are some screen shots under, happening to anyone else ??

Is just really annoying I feel like something it's downloading and wasting my battery. O.O

Yup, it happens to me also. I even tried closing all open pages and the spinning icon continues to spin. The only way to stop it is to go to Settings and clear the cache or force quit safari.

Did it and after five minutes I got the loading icon again.:mad:

Not sure if it did it this in previous versions of iOS or not but I would assume the Ajax call animates the icon due to an actual network request taking place. Facebook uses a ton of Ajax. If it is in fact due to Ajax then I don't think this should be removed. A network request is taking place in the background and I would like to know about it.

Could also be an issue with a site attempting to load a resource from another server that is unavailable (such as an advertising). This may cause the request to continue until timeout (120 seconds?) and thus the animation continues.

Try a very simple html page with no fancy stuff, I bet it will stop the spinner once loaded.

Example, try this blank html page:
http://html.comsci.us/examples/blank1.html

I tried that and it's still there, it happens with every website. =\

With the page I linked to, does it happen even with all other tabs closed? (I don't think Safari multitasks with the tabs other than the active one but just in case...)

If it's still like that, it could also be something with your network connection. Perhaps the page really isn't done retrieving fully due to an issue with the network (lost packets).

You can always try to completely restore your phone (not from a backup) and see if that helps.

You have the link to that ?

I don't think is my network because as someone pointed out they do the same as me (close all tabs) and the loading icon is still there you know, I'm guessing is a bug. Doesn't happen to you ?

It still happens when I close all pages/windows to a blank page and the icon continues to spin.

For me, I only get the loading symbol if something on current page is loading still, or a page in another tab is loading (or more likely, stuck).

iOS 4.0.1

Sorry I don't have my iPhone 4 yet. Definitely doesn't happen on my iPhone 3G running 3.1.2.

Could very well be a bug. It seems obvious enough so I'm sure if it is a bug then Apple is well aware of it. However, doesn't hurt to report it again.

Just had this happen on my ip4 running 4.0. It stays spinning after every page is loaded, even just loading google by itself. I closed out everything in multitasking and that did not work. But just turning off the phone ( not hard reset ) makes it stop when turned back on. Must be a glitch, and yes I set my phone up as new.
