Not long ago, in a fit of frustration with Safari 4's various problems, I dragged it from the Applications folder into the trash.

I've since been using Firefox, but all of sudden today, Safari 4 popped up again and I just found it back in my Applications folder. I only deleted Safari from the App folder and nowhere else. Is it possible the system/software update automatically re-installed it?

Thanks!

Only root has the privileges to delete Safari. FWIW, there is absolutely no reason to delete Safari. Having it on your system in no way prevents you from using any other browser. You may even use multiple browsers simultaneously.
