Safari 4 replaces Safari 3 if I try it?

Now that there is another beta version out for S4, I am interested in trying it, but before I do, I wanted to ask the silly question: "if I download and install S4, will it run alongside S3, or outright replace it as my browser?"

It'll replace it, but the dmg comes with an uninstaller that removes Safari 4 and puts back Safari 3.

It also replaces the system webkit, so Mail, Adium, iChat, SubEthaEdit, etc... will all be using the Safari 4 beta version of WebKit.
