OK, this is not earth-shattering, but here's what happened to me last night. I have a 6-week old 13" Macbook Pro with very few applications installed: just Citrix plug-in and VLC player.
I used the Software Update to install Safari 5. As I performed the obligatory system restart at the end, my Mac said that the installation was complete and then shifted to a blue screen with the little progress circle...for 5+ minutes. Finally I powered off the machine. After I powered up, everything has been normal.
And I'm very happy with Safari 5. The Reader alone makes it worthwhile for me.
I would not bother posting except that my MBP is so new and virginal. I was very surprised to encounter any issues upgrading to Safari 5.
