I was a PC user, and I'm trying to get the hang of my new MacBook Pro.

I've found AdBlock necessary for certain sites and browsing and decided to download it on my MacBook and for Safari.

The first site I went to was

http://safari-adblock.en.softonic.com/mac

When I clicked download, it asked for my permission to install which I did. The file disappeared and nothing happened while the site itself just said "Please wait while this file is download..." which didn't happen...

Is this normal? As I'm new, I couldn't find the file or any history of downloading and installing it.

Afterwards I went to safariadblock.com and it worked great...

Do I need to be concerned about the previous "download"?

Thank you, and I apologize if this isn't a good question.

No need to be concerned. It sounds like the download didn't happen.

Strange, it prompted me to install and I clicked it...

Do you know whether or not this particular download from softonic is faulty? And is there anyway for me to review/scan any such download before committing on a Mac?

No, it's not faulty. I've download it from Softonic with no issues. If you're concerned, just delete any files related to the app and download it again.

The most effective method for complete app removal is manual deletion:
