I'm getting an insane amount of freezes using Safari and Firefox. I'm running all the latest versions on a MBP with Leopard. I'm thinking that it must be my internet connection at work, but what's happening is that certain pages, like, iGoogle home page for instance, will load 75-80%, and then just stop loading and freeze up, needing to be forced quit.

Any suggestions? Could this just be a bad internet connection?

That sounds like your internet connection. Are you connecting through a wireless router? If so, unplug it from the wall for a few minutes and then power it back up. My MacBook does this sometimes. It seems to be my cheap router.
