How do I have Safari open a hyperlink in the same window within the same tab??? .....and please oh please don't say I can't.

I believe you have to turn off tabbed browsing in order to have that option.
 
If it's a hyperlink within Safari, that should be the default behavior (as long as the link's target isn't another window or _blank), but from other applications I don't think it's possible.

You *might* be able to do it with something like SafariStand or Saft, but since I don't use any of those, I have no idea.
 
Yes, if you mean that you want to override code to open a link in a new window and force it into the current tab, I don't know any way to do that either. Stand cannot. You might check out SAFT; I don't know if it can or not.
