Safari automatically switches to AppStore

There have been a few times I click on a website, it loads, and then my phone automatically switches to the AppStore to one of the 17,000 candy crush derivative games. Initially I thought I was inadvertently touching a banner ad, but it has now happened to other people I know too.

Besides not going to these sites, is there a way to avoid this? I've fished through my settings and pop up block is on, but otherwise I don't see a setting that would stop this.

It has happened both in safari and in the twitter app's built in browser.

Has this happened to anyone else?

This would stop it from happening again, right? Most of these sites are links from other sites or twitter, so not something I visit regularly or maybe ever again.
