I absolutely hate that Steve Jobs insists on mixing directories with bookmarks in Safari and directories with files in Finder.

While I've found a solution for the Finder, that is, Path Finder, I'm still struggling to find a plugin for Safari which cleans up this mess and lists directories first.

Any thoughts?

Perhaps you would be better served if you stopped fighting your new system and learned how to use it. This Mac user finds Safari bookmarks incredibly easy to manage. When I upgraded from Netscape Navigator to Safari, I imported my Navigator bookmarks and have not looked back.

If you're referring to making folders in Finder sort first, followed by files, this will help:

For Safari, one method is to preface your folder names by a space, so they automatically sort first. However, Safari doesn't provide for sorting bookmarks anyway, so you'd have to drag a Safari folder to your desktop, sort it with Finder, then drag it back.

I have always sorted my Safari bookmarks within Safari.
