Safari bookmarks tab annoying, why doesn't a click on the webpage close the bookmarks

Am I the only one clicking the webpage area when the bookmarks tab is open hoping it will close the bookmarks tab area? Why does it make us click the bookmark icon to close?! Ugh think I'll stick with Chrome. It's also still refreshing the page after going back in my browser.

Personally, I like it that way. It allowed me to select more than one bookmark and open up the tabs I need before closing the bookmarks. Prior to that, I would have to keep opening up the bookmarks over and over again to see all my banking accounts open in a different tab. I would put them in the shortcut bar, but I have other things there I use more often.
