Safari bug, anyone else getting this?

Updated to 10.3.9 and to Safari 1.3. Firstly Safari kept crashing, so i deleted all my plug ins (what a drag) and now it starts again, but now there appears to be a consistent bug with the bookmark bar.
Basically, i can add bookmarks fine by dragging them into the bar, but i can't drag them off the bar or manage bookmarks when pressing the book icon - when i do either of these Safari instantly crashes everytime i do it.
I have repaired permissions and Terminal tells me i have no Java bug or whatever, any suggestions? anyone else getting it?
I tried wiping all bookmarks but the bug still remains

Try trashing your preferences

Create a new user account and log into it.
See if the bug remains.
