Hello,

I just installed Safari 3.1 for Windows (Vista), and I'm getting this error message:

Safari cannot open a browser window and may be missing important resources. Try installing Safari again.

So, like a nice person who follows the instructions of all error messages *gags*, I uninstall, and reinstall.

Same error message.

Anything?

same problem - Safari cannot open - help!

donaldj,

I am having the same problem! i've been googling for the solution to this for 2 days now!

it works fine my my xp machine but its giving me the "Safari cannot open a browser window and may be missing important resources. Try installing Safari again."

At first I did the same thing as you at first, but went a bit further
  • Since i'm pretty lazy and don't feel like reinstalling, i repaired it - didn't work
  • uninstall, reinstall - obviously didn't work too
  • then I uninstalled my Apple Update & Bonjour then uninstalled & reinstalled Safari - still didn't work
  • then I uninstalled my Apple Update, Bonjour, itunes, quicktime, some other apple stuff, then uninstalled & reinstalled Safari - still didn't work

I have no idea what to do...
If anybody can help me out on this I'll be pretty damn happy!

Bug in Safari - how to fix this problem

with Vista many applications are not properly tested under User Account Control on or off before release. I have some outlook and salesforce applications that do this but in the opposite way.

In short, go to control panel and go to user accounts. There should be an option to turn User Accounts on or off. Make sure it is on when you install Safari and leave it on.

Safari will not operate with User Account Control deactivated.

Thanks Brett!

I turned on the User Account Control and installed it again and it works fine. Now I just need to deal with the user control popup... =(

Maybe i'll just buy a macbook instead...
