I have a mac book running 10.6.8 when i switched it on this morning i can not get passed my home page without safari crashing,i get a window with lots of numbers and letters and a tab to reopen,when i reopen it crashes again,i haven't downloaded anything i only use it for browsing the web (shopping).

Restart your computer, then reset Safari, clearing your cache and cookies.
 
Safari crashing is…

sometimes the first sign of permissions badly in need of repair.
