right, i'm trying to play a divx online from this site

http://www.tv-links.co.uk/show.do/1/3295

it's episodes of the series "john doe" which rocks by the way...

i have the Safari that came with my system, i haven't installed the new Safari 3 since i read that it's still got bugs...

i've got divx installed as well as flip4mac (not relevant i think) but when i click on one of the episodes and the pop up well... pops up, Safari either crashes alltogether or i just get static in the window and nothing happens...

can any of you please try this and tell me if you've had the same thing happen?

by the way, it works fine on Camino, Firefox and Opera

I get the same exact problem, and I'm running the latest Safari 3 beta

*Sigh*, hope they get this junk sorted out soon!

EDIT: Just found: http://perian.org/

Haven't tried it yet, but looks to be the awenser to our problems!

EDIT: Nevermind, doesn't fix the Safari related DivX crashes :(

Peace

Its a problem with Safari, not your Safari specifically, I just use Camino when Safari doesn't work...

yep, same here, downloaded it and Safari still crashes!! :(

anyone got any ideas?

i loooove john doe. i miss that show :( i cried when i saw dominic purcell again in prison break :p
stupid fox cancelling shows.

anyway, when you installed perian, did you delete divx too?

and would getting the xvid codec maybe solve your issues?

nope, that didn't work either
i guess it's just a problem with Safari
i hope they will have dealt with it in Safari 3

mac crashed with divx, solved problem

I will try this. I've seen a lot a problems for mac users (as me) that are using divx webplayer. I recommend to try the beta version on http://labs.divx.com/ and look for the webplayer of divx.
After this, install the program, restart your browser and try the link once again. It SHOULD work fine.
Now I don't get crashes on my mac when I use Safari or Firefox. I read also that the guys from divx stage 6 are working on solve the problem for the next version. Let's be patience, and let's hope that we can have the stable version of the program soon.
