Has anyone noticed that Safari is the SLOWEST browser at loading .gifs? I'm on a windows computer right now and just realized how IE had no problem loading a page full of .gifs.

Has anyone else noticed this before?

I have not had this problem on my PowerBook G4, iMac, or my work PC all running Safari 4. The only difficulty is loading multiple tabs with flash at the same time on the PC.

Really... PNG is the way to go and has been for a while.

Edit: I guess I wasn't really thinking. PNG is better for transparencies, GIF is probably good for animations.

Gif is only good for animations, but all the gif animations out there are really tacky and left over from last century.

Maybe It's just Safari Beta I'm using. I have noticed it on my MBP and MB. Then if i use Firefox it's like gravy.

And yes .gifs are effing old school, but a forum i frequent is in love with them
