Safari doesn't save bookmarks?

I don't know if there's a thread for this already or not (I might have missed it), but...

I try to save bookmarks in safari and they save okay - for a while. Usually after I shut it down then start it up do my bookmarks go away. I have a 3G (finally). Any ideas on how to get my iPhone to save the bookmarks?
