Hello all,

In Safari 5.1 in Lion, I'm having trouble with some extensions.

I usually like to clear all web data (cache, cookies, history, local storage …) when I've finished browsing as I find it inefficient and pointless to keep such information on my drive (I like to relaunch "clean" apps).
Therefore, I check all options under Reset Safari and run that. However, this erases my preferences for these extensions so what I've done is locked the local storage folder so that Safari can't erase them. This also means that no other local storage can be stored there and I'm wondering whether this is a safe thing to do? Also, would it stop these extensions being updated … ?

Additionally, I'm running Adblock and Ghostery. Is it necessary to run both or is one of them redundant? Ideally, what I'd like to do is block ads and bug tracking everywhere, but allow ads on sites I want to support. What's the best way of doing this?

Thanks,

Update: Interestingly, I seem to be logged out automatically of MacRumors a lot more without the ability to save to local storage...
