I'm asking myself what's the point of having this option ticked anyway? It seems like I always have to untick it and tick it again, and only then any possible updates for my extensions will show up.

In other words, I always have to do it manually, it's not like the extensions get updated by themselves, unless I unticked and ticked that "install updates automatically" option.

I have noticed the same thing. I can get them to update just by clicking on the "Updates" thing at the bottom then going back to the prefs for the extension. I don't find I need to unclick/click the updates checkmark.

I see. Well the main issue here is - you have to take care of these "automatic updates" yourself because seemingly if you neglect it, they won't update by themselves either. Pointless.
