safari failing to redirect

I access the internet via my university wireless connection. When I open my browser I get automatically redirected to a university wireless access login page. After logging in I get redirected back to my homepage.

Safari has stopped redirecting to the university wireless login page! It attempts to load my homepage and then stalls there. Camino is redirecting me okay. Safari used to - but it has stopped doing that all of a sudden. I don't think that is correlated with updates...

Help?

In fact... Even once I have logged in with Camino Safari is failing. My homepage is set to gmail.com. Basically... Safari seems to have stopped working :-(
