I have this reoccurring issue with Safari where I go to open a new tab and the browser freezes for about 10 seconds, being completely unresponsive. Then it comes back to life and I have no issues for a while, where it then comes back again.

Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?

Without knowing more details like what Mac OS you are running, third party apps and extensions that are running, it is hard to diagnose. Try running EtreCheck, it may tell you what might be causing the issue.

Try booting into safe mode and see if the issue happens. Safe mode will prevent third party launchAgents and launchDaemons from running.

I would suggest try creating a clean new user account, and see if the issue happens in the new user account.

It could be a third party software that you are running.
