My iPad works perfectly apart from one very annoying 'glitch'.

pressing the X to close a tab or indeed a window doesn't always work - more often than not it will take multiple attempts. This is solely a problem with Safari.

I doubt this is a hardware/screen problem as closing apps is exactly as it should be. - a touch and they close. The screen behaves as it should for absolutely everything.

Any ideas on how I can remedy this?

I have not noticed this with Safari but I have with the Terra web browser. I believe that it is caused by the browser loading a large page with many graphics. When it completes the loading the page then it allows you to close the tab.
