Safari Hangups

Since about 3 security updates ago I have had a really frustrating problem with safari - clicking on an active link, data field, the scroll bar or the up/down arrows causes Safari to wait 2-3 second, then spin the color wheel a couple seconds more before it decides to do anything. I've tried quitting all other programs, restarting, techtool pro, and can't figure out what's wrong. Some days are worse than others, but it happens 80% of the time now. Any ideas? :confused:
