Hello everyone,
Am I at a crossroads with my iMac i5 27 2013? Or rather with Safari? The iMac boots with Catalina on an external SSD. So with Safari 13.0.5. For some time now, Safari has often shown this message: "Application error: a client-side exception has occurred (see the browser console for more information)" on classified ad sites for example. On other sites, it's "Your browser is out of date. Please update". Also, YouTube has become almost unusable because everything is so slow: loading, scrolling, theater mode. Was not like that before. I have to use Firefox 117.0 our Brave to avoid these problems. Is there something I don't know or don't do with Safari? I like browsing the Web with Safari much better than Firefox or other browsers. As the power of my old iMac is still acceptable for what I do (Browsing the Web, Mail, Photos, Word), I'm not sure that buying a 24-inch m1 or m2 iMac just to have a recent Safari is a good idea. Trying to install Ventura via a program?

Thanks for your advice and tips

There are a number of responses that could be given but first…the last security update for Catalina was in July 2022 and the last update for Safari on Catalina was Safari 15.6.1 in August 2022. Maybe try that?
