Safari has disabled downloads?

Hi all,

I'm running 10.7.2 with Safari 5.1.1. For some reason, downloads in Safari have suddenly stopped working. It's no longer showing up as an option in the menu bar, nor does the downloads icon show up in the Customize Toolbar… window. See the attached images.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? It's bizzare and really frustrating.

Same thing happened to me, and at least one other person (there was a thread on here recently...) Download something, and the icon should show up to the right of the search bar. Still won’t be able to move it or anything though. It’s really annoying.
