I was clearing some Safari history yesterday and this morning, some items individually, but most in large groups by keyword, address or date. It was going well.

Today, while working on this, I went to another tab for a few minutes and when I returned to the history tab, almost everything was suddenly gone.

For most dates, the address column was showing between 50 items and 200 items before I left this tab. When I returned a few minutes later, most dates had only 2-10 items. The majority of the items which remain are Google search results, not actual sites, although there are some random others, with no obvious pattern to them.

Today’s history was gone as well but it was collecting new history normally immediately after this.

There are no disasters, but a few things I would have really liked to find again. I don’t have Time Machine and I realize these are probably all gone. There is no history.plist in the Library.

While I can accept they are gone, why did this happen?

thank you
