Under the Sea
its almost impossible to check my hotmail
with safari now... my page turns white and then the
URL cycles thru different addresses and just gets stuck in
a loop. and then tells me to upgrade to EI 6 :(

FireFox works great, but i like safari better... and i need
to be able to check my hotmail...

anyone eles have this problem?
-------------update---------------------
reedit your address for "msn.live" for hotmail to just "hotmail.com"
this seems to fix the bug

Just checked mine, works fine. I am using Leopard 10.5.1 with Safari 3.0.4. What version are you using?

I have the same hotmail cycling issue with safari - and I'm mystified by it.

I've cleared the caches etc, but to no avail. Firefox works fine. I have 10.5.1 with latest versions of everything.

I think i found a FIX!!!

Reedit your address in safari to just "hotmail.com"

its now working !!!

10.4.11
3.0.4

It's dead on my MacBook, too since the Leopard install - just keeps cycling around random addresses and then finally comes up with a message saying I cannot log in. It works in Firefox and on an iMac though.

Maybe it's just M$ trying to make life hard for leopard users

My Safari does this too.
It cycles for a good few minutes and then gives me some hotmail error page.
Now I have to use Firefox to check my hotmail
:(

I use Camino for it, much faster to load than FF...

It seems to be working now - MS must have fixed it. Anyone still having problems?

Same here, but it works perfectly for a friend of mine...

I have the same problem with Hotmail + Safari since like 3 or 4 days.

Work fine in Firefox however.

For quite a few months, many Mac Safari users have been having problems with HotMail. The problem is that when they try to log in to HotMail, Microsoft's redirect commands wind up in an unending loop. This only happens when users did not manually click the link to "sign out" on their last session.

I've had to help many people solve this problem, so I thought it might be useful information for macosxhints.com. The way to solve the problem is to delete related cookies:

1. In Safari, go to Preferences » Security » Show Cookies.
2. Type in live.com
3. Click the Remove All button.

Now you can login to HotMail again. In the future, manually sign out each time to avoid doing these steps again. The only real disadvantage is that you'll have to retype your username and password the next time you log in after clearing the cookies.
