Safari: How download more than six files in a row?

Is it possible to make Safari download more than six files in a row?

I wish to download many (50+) files located in a directory on a website.

It seems that Safari can handle six simultaneous downloads. However, even if I click more than six in the file list Safari won't download further files once the first six have completed.
