Safari in iTune store

So I clicked on an ad for an app store app and was taken to the app detail page in safari, which then launched itunes to display it in the app store.

It instead took me to the same page in safari....but shown in iTunes. I can now navigate the apple website in place of the iTunes store.

Is this a bug or is it a feature I have just missed being announced?
