Recently, safari has been freezing alot and requiring a force quit and it seems to have started after the recent security update and its so annoying that i've switched to Firefox. Anyone know whats been changed and how to fix it?

have you recently inserted new RAM as this happen on my mum's G4, and we eventually had to take the extra RAM out because it got so bad

I just came here to see if anyone else was having problems - found your post.

For me, the issue seems to be memory usage. After a long session of web surfing, memory usage goes way up (virtual size over a gig). 'Resetting' safari to clear cache/cookies/history does not free up memory.

Clearly, with that level of memory usage performance slows to a crawl (I have 1Gig in my G4 powerbook). Is there now a memory leak in Safari?

This definitely started after the latest update.

Memory usage is fine for me but that may be due to having 2GB of RAM. The Ram should be seated properly because 1. Apple installed it themselves and 2. No other apps have this issues.
