So this is a new issue (iOS 26) that has never ever happened before and it’s driving me up the wall.

1. I’ll make a new tab. It’ll appear at the bottom of the list.

2. I’ll browse some sites in it.

3. I’ll go about using my phone for other things.

4. At some point, I’ll open Safari back up. It will open on that tab.

5. BUT, this tab has now been MOVED to the MIDDLE of my tab list.

I’ve got about 50 tabs open, and this tab that was at the bottom because it was the newest tab, is now in the middle of the list.

It’s not obvious that this has happened, and so any tabs that I spawn from that tab (Open In Background) are now ALSO in the middle of the tab list.

This is driving me crazy because I rely on the tab list for knowing what to go back and read. Since it’s reordering itself like this, I keep missing things that needed attention.

Anyone else encounter this and have a fix?

No. I’m seeing it too, although my tab is sometimes moving to the top. This has been happening the last few betas. I too thought it was just me.

This is the worst freaking bug! 🙁

Most people that keep that many tabs open do it on accident so they wouldn't notice them rearranging. I use the 'Reading List" bookmark for what you're doing (especially handy if I'm going on a flight).

I would highly recommend reporting this to Apple.

They can only fix things they know about. Judging by the responses here or lack thereof there is a chance its unknown, specific to a device type, or low on a priority list due to few people or no one reporting it.

I can’t f’ing believe this bug persists. I’ve got 10 tabs open, that’s it, and it still happens. I just keep copying and pasting the same bug reports every point update. Unreal.
