iPod touch Safari Keyboard Lag & Hidden Volume Icon

I had two issues that occured but i thought I'd group them into one post.

First off is it just me or when something is being typed into a field on a webpages the keyboard always lags (sometimes freezes). I've tried restoring and clearing all safari cache items. Maybe it just needs another update?
I'm using the latest 2.0.1.

Also, the last time this happened thre device froze up and right after i "slid to turn off" I saw a volume meter pop up for a split second before the device shut off. It wasn't the ipod volume meter though it was the mac meter, the loud speaker with little squares below filled in. I wonder what its purpose was in being included.

Well when i went to the apple shop yesterday - i played on the touches and those exact gripes appeared, the volume thing appeared when beginning to play a video online, and the keyboard lag when searching for it on the apple website - they must be glitches with the current software i guess..
