Safari Lion question

Hello,
Why when I open Safari why isn't it defaulting to my page "google". I've gone into the preferences and set it up that way. However when I launch Safari it tends to pull up whatever I was looking at.

Go to System Preferences -> General and uncheck "Restore Windows... " near the bottom

Thanks a million been using mac's forever but Safari is a little taxing to me.
