Safari: Mute all other tabs than the one I'm viewing?

I'm a bit tired of opening 10 tabs and having to check each tab to see where YouTube is playing (example).

Is there some way to only have sound of the tab that you are currently viewing? I think this would be really useful.

Any tips on how to do a plug-in, I might be interested in trying to do it myself if there's not already something out there.

not sure sorry. but a good thing Safari does is it only loads the video of a flash player in the frontmost tab.
