Universal Safari - Navigating to Website

Hi, I have a few websites pinned like YouTube and Reddit etc. Whenever I click the + button to create a new tab and if I for example type YouTube.com, it doesn't open YouTube but jumps me to the pinned YouTube tab. This is really annoying and not the behaviour I want. Is there some setting somewhere that opens YouTube in the new tab? I had a look through Safari Settings and couldn't find anything that would fix this. Any ideas?
