Until I updated to Yosemite Safari used to be rock solid.
Now it's nothing but freezes.
Yes, I managed to clean the history.

Is there a fix for this?

The problems seem to start when I press the plus button to add a tab.
Also sometimes It says that Safari is running and I get the menus from Safari but all I see is the desktop.
Firefox is running perfectly.....as usual.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Also...for some reason sometimes other programs will just completely disappear and I just see the desktop.

Sounds like a bad installation to me. Do a clean install and see if the issues persist? You could troubleshoot the issues individually but the whole thing sounds wonky to me.

If you're wanting to try some individual fixes first, try these.

You could try this to get your folders back: (clearing the icon cache)

As for Safari, try turning off the extensions, restarting Safari then report back if the problem persists.

I don't have any of those problems.
What MacBook Air do you have?

It's a one month old macbook air.
Don't know any more details.
Bought new from the Apple store a month ago.
Opera and Firefox are both running just fine.
