Safari Proxy Help

I'm having trouble getting safari to work with my work's proxy. I can use safari to browse my work's intranet, but it won't work on the internet. However, if I use camino to browse the web, it's perfectly happy. I've configured the proxy manually instead of using a .pac file as nothing would work on the internet when I tried using the pac file. Anyone have any ideas why safari isn't playing well with my work's proxy?
