for some odd reason quicktime, or for that matter all movies are not working in safari for me. it coincides with me recently using firefox a bit more than i used to, i don't know if that has anything to do with it.

any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Is QuickTime working in Firefox and is it working when you play a video through QuickTime Player (not through a browser)?

Are non-QuickTime movies playing in Safari? :)

quicktime movies in browser work fine in firefox, and camino for that matter, but nothing at all happens in safari. Quicktime on its own works fine.

also it seems that wmv files don't work in safari either, and they don't launch wmp for mac either

Maybe start by resetting Safari from the Safari menu. If that does nothing, then try dragging a file named com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist to the Desktop.

Just to be clear, are you saying Windows Media Player isn't recognising WMVs? :)
