When I try to open Safari, the window appears but then closes unexpectdly , giving me this error log:

A number of users over at Appletalk have been noticing Safari crashes as well. It might even be related to particular chat forums / software...

does it crash anywhere specific? or are there any trends to when it has been crashing? Or when did it start crashing on opening it? 10.4.7 update time?

On opening-the window appears, but suddenly dissapears. Using 10.4.7.

I'm sleepy and not getting anywhere with the log (although I probably wouldn't, even if I wasn't sleepy), but I'd start by removing all plug ins and add ons, then maybe reset Safari from the Safari menu (if you get a chance).

Failing that, I'd open up a new user account and see if the problems carry over. If they don't then I'd find a file named com.apple.Safari.plist in the Preferences folder and drag it to the Desktop (when Safari is closed).

From the log, it looks like your website history is corrupt, and Safari is failing at parsing it (bad error handling on Core Foundation's part.) Try deleting ~/Library/Safari/History.plist
