I don't know what I'm missing, but Safari is lightning fast... When I enter for instance macrumors.com in the address/search bar and hit go, the site is there pretty much instantly - pictures and all, despite having loads of content that in no way can have been cached.

If I would have had Background App Refresh turned on, I wouldn't think twice about it when it comes to sites that I regularly visit. But this happens on all sites I visit, and BAR is turned off...

I know "Safari feels snappier" is a running joke on the MR forum, but this is just ridiculous. Can someone explain what Apple has done that makes Safari this... Snappy?

I also find safari much faster on iOS 7. It's also much easier to use.

Pre-caching I believe. It knows what website you're going to as its typing so while you're finishing typing the web address its loading/loaded in the background :)

Right, it pre-loads websites in the background that are in your history, bookmarks, or reading list.
