I decided to reset Safari because occasionally I get beachballs. I also deleted the caches on my MBP. Now when I open Safari, the window pops up but then I get a neverending beachball. Do I have to now uninstall Safari and reinstall it from the Apple website?

Have you tried deleting the plist file?

If not go to *user*>Library>Preferences> find the file called com.apple.Safari.plist. Make sure Safari isn't trying to run so no blue dot under it's icon in the dock, then delete the plist file and see if Safari will open.

Tends to work well when it's just one application misbehaving. Could try Verifying and fixing permissions in Disk Utility if that doesn't work.
