Just started on 26 few days ago on iPad. I was one of the ones that fully embraced compact tab bar when it was introduced 4 years ago and am not pleased to see we have that big block of space always taken up until page is scrolled down, hopefully this will be addressed in a later update.

But also last year I think they removed the ability to search tabs on the grid page, unless you scroll all the way to the top or manage to press it right so it scrolls for you. Before the search box was always there so you could say type ‘youtube’ and instantly see all tabs from that site. A very useful feature for large tab users that is still gone it seems, but barely anyone seems to miss it as not sure I’ve even seen it mentioned.

Only new feature that is a bit interesting to me is the tab silence toggle which must have been introduced recently as don’t see it on feature lists.

On iPhone all you do is tap on the status bar. That's all you need to do to jump to the top in pretty much any app, no scrolling needed. Is iPad different?

I don’t believe that worked (at least reliably) pre 26, on 26 you now have the tab group bar at the top. You can press in the side gap between that and the new tab button and it will scroll to the top though which is something, still the delay to scroll and the action to do it are less desirable than simply being able to search in place as before. Much rather have permanent search bar using space on tab screen than the url bar!

I think majority of people also don’t have hundreds of tabs routinely, 276 at the moment and that is low as not been using pad much recently and tabs close after 1 month, have often hit limit. If you don’t have that many tabs then this isn’t an issue.
